I wrote this letter to my state senator the day after the election:
Good morning Kelli,
Congratulations on your win yesterday!
I’m writing to see if you would be interested in introducing comprehensive election reform legislation for us in Florida. I think it should address the process for how ballots are designed, make concrete once and for all hours for early voting and require that the process is uniform from precinct to precinct.
Florida is an important state that increasingly reflects the makeup of the rest of the country. I believe we should set ourselves up to proudly and swiftly announce our returns on election nights to come – and put an end to the narrative that voters are ever disenfranchised here. Let’s leave America without any doubt that the process is clean and fair in Florida.
I am just a concerned citizen, but please let me know if there is anything I can do to help.
